NOLVADEX is used to either treat breast cancer or reduce the risk of breast cancer
occurring if you are at increased risk of breast cancer.
If you and your healthcare professional are considering using NOLVADEX for reducing
the risk of breast cancer occurring, your knowledge of treatment risks becomes more
important because you don't currently have breast cancer. NOLVADEX therapy may be
uncommonly associated with serious side effects such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT
- blood clots in veins of your leg), pulmonary embolus (blood clots in your lungs)
and uterine cancer. In some women, these events were fatal. Less serious side effects
such as hot flushes, vaginal discharge, menstrual irregularities and gynaecological
conditions may also occur. Whether the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks depends
on your age, health history, your level of breast cancer risk and on your personal
judgement. NOLVADEX therapy to reduce the risk of breast cancer may not be appropriate
for all women at increased risk for breast cancer. An assessment with your healthcare
professional of the potential benefits and risks prior to starting therapy for reduction
in breast cancer risk is essential. You should understand that NOLVADEX reduces, but
does not eliminate, the risk of breast cancer.
NOLVADEX blocks the actions of oestrogen. Oestrogen is a natural female sex hormone.
In some types of breast cancer, oestrogen can help cancer cells to grow.
Your doctor will have explained why you are being treated with NOLVADEX and told you
what dose to take.
Follow all directions given to you by your doctor.

Nordette is an oral contraceptive, commonly known as a "birth control pill" or "the
Pill". Nordette tablets contain two hormones (levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol),
which prevent you from becoming pregnant if taken correctly. They are similar to the
hormones that your body normally produces.
Nordette prevents pregnancy in several ways:
It inhibits the egg release by stopping it maturing
It changes the cervical mucus consistency making it difficult for the sperm to reach
the egg
It changes the lining of the uterus making it less suitable for implantation.
Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why Nordette has been prescribed for
you.
Your doctor may have prescribed Nordette for another reason.
This medicine is available only with a doctor's prescription.
Nordette is not habit-forming.
This medicine is not expected to affect your ability to drive a car or operate machinery.
There are usually no symptoms of hypertension. The only way of knowing that you have
hypertension is to have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis. If high blood
pressure is not treated it can lead to serious health problems.
treat angina pectoris.
Angina is a pain or uncomfortable feeling in the chest, often spreading to the arms
or neck, and sometimes to the shoulders and back. The pain of angina is due to a shortage
of oxygen to the heart.
NORDIP is not for the relief of a sudden attack of angina. Your doctor will give you
other medication to treat this.
How it works
NORDIP belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers or calcium
ion antagonists. They work by widening your blood vessels, making it easier for your
heart to pump blood around the body and help increase the supply of blood and oxygen
to your heart. Calcium channel blockers do not change the amount of calcium in your
blood or bones.
Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why NORDIP has been prescribed for
you.
Your doctor may have prescribed it for another reason.
This medicine is available only with a doctor's prescription.

Norinyl-1 is a combined oral contraceptive, commonly known as a "birth control pill"
or "the Pill". It contains both an oestrogen (mestranol) and progestogen (norethisterone)
hormone.
Oral contraceptives belonging to this group produce their birth control (or contraceptive)
effect by preventing ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary) during each
menstrual cycle. Combined oral contraceptives also cause changes to the mucus of the
cervix and the lining of the womb, which contribute to the contraceptive action.
Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why Norinyl-1 has been prescribed
for you.
Your doctor may have prescribed Norinyl-1 28 for another reason.
